The LB Proud! Festival in Long Beach, California, is more than just a celebration of queer culture; it’s a heartfelt acknowledgment of the ongoing fight for equality and a commitment to giving back to the community. This year’s festival featured multiple events that brought together local businesses, artists, and community members to create a safe space of peace, acceptance, and solidarity. The International Imperial Court of Long Beach, Inc. was deeply involved in these activities, making their presence felt across various events throughout the weekend.

The weekend kicked off with a mixer event hosted by the Long Beach LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. It was a great opportunity for the community to support local businesses while connecting with influential figures such as the Port of Long Beach, Vice Mayor Cindy Allen, and the creators of LB Proud, Sal Flores-Trimble and Dan O’Brien. The event was a perfect space for businesses and organizations to come together and discuss ways to educate and help others in need.

Later in the evening, from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, the Tiny Gay-chella event took place, with all proceeds benefiting the Long Beach Imperial Court. This collaboration with local live music and bands highlighted the power of community support. The Imperial Court expressed deep gratitude to Esteven Gamez for organizing such a wonderful event that gave back to those in need.

The main event of the LB Proud Festival was a huge success, and the International Imperial Court of Long Beach had a strong presence. From 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM, the court hosted an activation in the festival’s family-friendly area. The activities included making paper crowns, a photo opportunity with the royals and their throne, a Drag Storybook Reading for kids and families, and a chance to educate the public on the mission of the Imperial Court. Empress 46 Mia Anastasia Farrow, Dita Vodka, Robbie Osa, and Elected Empress 52 Sah’Shey Aaliyah Couture brought joy to children and their families with interactive readings. It was inspiring to witness how the community embraced the event, and the Imperial Court’s mission to spread positivity and help those in need resonated with so many people.

One of the highlights of the day was the Shantay 1K, a fun and spirited race where the Elected Emperor 52, Joey Byrne, participated to represent the Imperial Court. Congratulations were given to the winners, and special thanks went to the event organizers including Taka Kaguma, Sabreena-Butch Keeling, Rod Cabradilla Dizor, and Assaf Weinberg. It was a fun-filled day with the community coming out to show their support and cheer on participants.
