Tony Stewart Seeks $30 Million For Indiana Sportsman Ranch

Race car driver Tony Stewart is chasing history in Indiana and has put his palatial 415-acre retreat on the market for $30 million. It’s the most expensive home currently for sale in the state, and if Stewart gets that price, it would be one of the most expensive deals ever in the area.

At first glance, the property looks more like a Bass Pro Shop than a home. Because that’s pretty much it. Mr. Stewart began construction on the property in 2004 and over the past 18 years has transformed it into a hunting and fishing paradise filled with animals and amenities.

The mansion, called “Hidden Hollow Ranch,” is located in Stewart’s hometown of Columbus, a relatively small city about an hour south of Indianapolis. At the center is a 20,000-square-foot cabin constructed of northern Rocky Mountain lodgepole pine.

This is not the only source material. The massive cabin features stone from Texas, custom light fixtures from Utah, and antler chandeliers from Alaska sourced from around the country.

Design-wise, this great room is more or less modeled after a Bass Pro Shop. A wooden bridge crosses a carp-filled stream at the entrance, leading to a two-story waterfall dotted with realistic wildlife including deer, rams and turkeys.

Above the fireplace is a buffalo head, and in the center of the spacious space is an 8,700-gallon freshwater aquarium stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, carp, gar, perch, and crappie.

There are also 6 bedrooms and 9.5 bathrooms. Amenities include a kitchen with hibachi grill, gym, bowling alley, golf simulator, poker room, billiards room, and onyx bar. The memorabilia room has formula racing cars on the wall.

Other buildings include a 3,500 square foot guest house and workshop. This property is zoned as a bed and breakfast, so it can be used for personal or commercial purposes.

It is also a designated hunting preserve and is home to many elk, deer, and turkeys. The nine-acre lake is stocked with fish.

Stewart called the place his dream home and said the estate was “the perfect blend of entertainment and relaxation.”

A three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, Stewart is the only driver to win championships in both IndyCar and NASCAR. The Indiana native was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2020.

Carrie Hall of Compass Indiana maintains the list.
