Ryan LeVert, the youngest son of O’Jays lead vocalist Eddie LeVert, has died. She was 22 years old.
Eddie LeVert’s grandchildren Lumika and Carlisia LeVert confirmed Ryan’s death on Instagram this week. They are the children of Eddie’s late eldest son, Gerald LeVert. “Every time you didn’t answer the phone, I knew something was wrong. And now I will carry that feeling forever,” Remika wrote on Instagram in a tribute to her late aunt. He added words of condolence.
“Love you @missryanlevert! I wasn’t ready for this,” he added.
Carlisia remembered Ryan by posting a photo of her aunt on her Instagram Story with a purple heart and dove emoji. Neither social media post revealed further information about Ryan’s death, including the cause of death. According to her Instagram bio, Ryan was battling lupus.
A representative for Eddie LaVert, 82, did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Times.
Ryan died nearly 20 years after his older brother Gerald died of a heart attack in November 2006. He was 40 years old. The O’Jays singer’s second son, Sean LeVert, died in April 2008 after becoming ill while serving time in prison in Cleveland. He was 39 years old.
Ryan was born in March 2002 and is the daughter of Eddie and his wife Raquel. She frequently shared her personal life with her followers on Instagram, posting videos of memorable moments such as photos of sweet moments with her father and celebrating her 21st birthday in 2023. In his last Instagram post, Ryan looked forward to 2024.
“Happy 2024,” she captioned a photo from the chic photoshoot, adding, “Wishing you health, more love, and more laughter.”
