In Newport Coast, a huge mansion overlooking the ocean sold for a whopping $61 million, breaking Orange County’s all-time price record.
This is the highest price ever paid for a home in Orange County by a wide margin, surpassing the two homes above Newport Harbor that sold for $55 million in 2017.
Square footage-wise, this one is much larger, at about 19,000 square feet. Set on a nearly one-acre duplex, this luxurious home offers a 130-mile panoramic view of the ocean and city lights.
In addition to the main building, there is a spacious guesthouse and a 6,800 square foot garage that accommodates 12 cars. Manicured gardens and mature palm trees line the front of the property, and the house itself surrounds a courtyard with a fountain.
Inside, there are six bedrooms and 12 bathrooms spread over three floors. According to the listing, highlights include a movie theater, gym, sauna, game room, office, bonus room and study.
The upper level extends to a huge deck overlooking the backyard, with a swimming pool and spa located at the edge of the property.
The property, built in 2017, was first listed for sale in June for $68 million. Records show it was last sold in 2007 for $5.95 million.
Compass’ Rob Guillem maintained the list. Tim Smith of Coldwell Banker Realty represented the buyer.
