An art deco mansion on the New Jersey coast that screams Joe Pesci is on the market for $5 million by the man himself.
The Oscar-winning actor, who grew up in the Garden State, bought the property in 1994 for $850,000. He held on to it for the past three years for $6.5 million until he finally found a buyer. The sale ended on Wednesday.
A mish-mash of flamboyant 1980s and ’90s styles, this waterfront mansion sits on three acres in Lavalette overlooking Barnegat Bay. Dramatically different from neighboring mansions, the mansion appears to be a natural fit for the gangster characters played by Pesci in films such as “Goodfellas,” “Casino,” and “The Irishman.”
The cream-colored home flaunts a curvaceous exterior with a glass atrium. Once inside, a sculptural staircase winds its way to the upper floors.
Other highlights include a round dining room under golden light fixtures and a memorabilia-filled media room complete with a “Lethal Weapon” pinball machine. There’s also a golden barber’s chair, carousel, elevator, office, eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms (including a primary suite with a private balcony).
Multiple terraces overlook the backyard and have steps down to the heated pool and spa. A private dock completes the scene.
Pesci, 78, won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 1990 crowd-pleasing film “Goodfellas.” He is a longtime collaborator with Martin Scorsese, having also worked with the director on the films “Raging Bull,” “Casino,” and “The Irishman.” His other notable credits include “Home Alone” and “My Cousin Vinny.”
Michael Puccio of RE/MAX Central handled the listing. Lawrence Greenberg of M. Van Sciver Realtors represented the buyer.
