The expansive Ranch Mirage mansion built in 1956 for actress Marion Davis has sold for $2.175 million.
Davis purchased the land in the 1950s from Hyatt Robert von Dehn, founder of Hyatt Hotels, and commissioned a 13,908-square-foot home. After her death in 1961, the estate passed to Davis’ husband, actor Horace G. Brown. Victor Jules Bergeron Jr., founder of the Trader Vic restaurant chain, is also a former owner.
Set on approximately 3 acres, the property includes a waterfall, full tennis court, swimming pool, and private lake with a dock and paddle boat.
The pink property features guest rooms, 10 bedrooms, and 11 bathrooms, all on one level. The interior is lined with large columns and mirrored walls. The master suite bathroom has an atrium.
The home was originally listed for sale last summer for $3.4 million. It was recently listed for $2.495 million.
Davis starred in films such as Peg O My Heart (1933) and Cain and Mabel (1936). However, her professional life was heavily influenced by her long-standing relationship with married newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. She died in 1961 at the age of 64.
Neil Leviton of Rodeo Realty and Bruce Buescher of Keller Williams were the listing agents. Fatima Nordquist of Power Brokers International represented the buyer.
