Montessori education emphasizes developing a child’s sense of self through the practice of independence, self-confidence, and self-discipline. The philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori is taught by Montessori-qualified teachers in classrooms with specific materials and lessons in language arts, mathematics, practical life, and cultural subjects to help children reach their full potential. We are focused on helping you reach your full potential.

Our preschool program is designed for children ages 2 1/2 to 6 and combines practical skills with a rich, exploratory curriculum. We start with the very basics, including sensory development through exercises that teach children to differentiate size, color, texture, and sound. Teach classification and critical thinking skills through activities such as sorting and matching. And improve your vocabulary.

Children develop the fine and gross motor skills essential to independence through hands-on practice that develops responsibility, patience, and concentration while preparing them for complex activities. The Montessori approach also allows students to develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills.

In math, we use concrete, tactile materials and activities such as counting, sorting, and number recognition to introduce ideas about quantity and place value and prepare children for addition and subtraction. I’ll let you do that.

Language arts activities develop early literacy skills through a phonetic approach, starting with letter recognition, phoneme awareness, and vocabulary building. Through storytelling, sequencing, and oral presentation, you will gain communication confidence that is essential for future language development.

Our kindergarten program builds on foundational preschool skills and prepares children academically, socially, and emotionally for elementary school. Kindergarten children have a rich curriculum that includes physical education, music, Spanish, and art to encourage their overall development.

Our elementary program builds on skills learned in kindergarten and nursery school. At this age, we also focus on peace education and maintain a calm environment where children can sit quietly, read a book, relax, meet with friends and practice conversation. We will dedicate a corner of the classroom to

Students are asked to actively participate in the learning process by directing their own time management and organization and setting reasonable and responsible goals. They begin working more on group projects and using outside resources such as libraries and museums.

All of this takes place on a 3-acre campus that features trees and multiple playgrounds, including one that was recently renovated. A special outdoor learning space recently dedicated as the Phyllis Walters Learning Garden pays homage to the woman who founded CMS in 1989.

Families are encouraged to book a tour to experience a Montessori classroom firsthand. During the tour, we will provide insight into our unique curriculum and philosophy. Our admissions team will discuss your child’s needs and answer any questions you may have about how Montessori education supports lifelong learning.
