Alex Trebek's Studio City Mansion Sold For $6.45 Million

Alex Trebek’s Studio City estate – the late “Jeopardy!” host owned for 30 years until his death in 2020 – has changed hands for $6.45 million.

That’s exactly three times the price Mr. Trebek paid for the property in 1991, when he bought it for $2.15 million, records show. His widow, Jean, put the house on the market in January for $7 million. His daughter, Emily Trebek of Compass, was in charge of sales.

This $6.45 million deal is Studio City’s second-highest home sale so far this year, which is no surprise. The 99-year-old home is 10,000 square feet and sits on 1.5 acres in Fryman Estates, one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the neighborhood.

Inside, there are five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and several luxurious living spaces. There’s a two-story entryway with double staircases, a lounge under a dramatic rotunda, and a gold-and-white wet bar.

Another highlight is in the media room, with a library with a stone fireplace at one end and a movie theater with crimson carpeting and curtains at the other end.

To the rear, park-like grounds include a guesthouse, a fountain, and a patio that leads to a pool with a slide. Beyond is Willaker Park, a 128-acre nature preserve. The facility is about a 30-minute drive from Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, where “Jeopardy!” is being photographed.

Trebek, a Canadian native, hosted “Jeopardy!” The show ran for 37 seasons from 1984 to 2020. During that time, he won eight Emmy Awards for Outstanding Game Show Host and received stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Canada’s Walk of Fame.

Emily Trebek and Renee Oziens were both publicly traded at Compass. Andrew Dinsky of Equity Union represented the buyer.
