As April approaches, residents of Los Angeles may experience an early bout of May Gray and June Gloom, with forecasts indicating a period of significantly below-average temperatures and a chance of rain.

Mike Wofford, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard, stated, “It’s going to be at least a week — eight or nine days — of this off-and-on rainy and cool pattern.”

Expectations for the week include high temperatures remaining in the 60s, which is notably lower than the usual average of around 71 degrees for this time of year in downtown Los Angeles. On Friday, temperatures are expected to peak at approximately 66 degrees, with a continued decline into the weekend.
“We’re running anywhere from about 3 to 8 degrees below normal, and it’s going to stay that way or even get a little cooler,” Wofford explained.

“While we cannot completely rule this out, heavy rain is very unlikely at this time,” Wofford cautioned, referring to the uncertain conditions predicted for the upcoming week.
